Privacy policy
This policy covers the website www.remicentrs.lv: what personal data it processes, why, and for how long.
1. Who processes your data
The controller is the association Kaķu palīdzības centrs "Remi" (REMI Cat Rescue Center; reg. no. 40008304658), Kauguru iela 10, Riga, LV-1046, Latvia. For questions about personal data write to remicentrs@gmail.com or call +371 23077444.
2. What data we process
Visit booking
When you book a visit to the shelter on the website, we receive your first name, last name, phone number, the number of people, the date and time you choose, the kind of visit and — if you choose one — a cat. E-mail is optional. We do not collect children’s names. Without a name, phone number and the number of people a booking cannot be made.
The data is needed only to organise the visit and to contact you if it has to be moved or cancelled. Basis: providing the service you asked for (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)). After the visit we keep the data for up to 12 months, so that questions about the visit can be settled (our legitimate interests, Art. 6(1)(f)); then the name, phone and e-mail are deleted and only anonymous statistics remain (date, time, number of people).
Donations
When you press the donate button you are taken to the payment page of the payment service provider JooL Pay (JOOL PAY SIA). You enter your card and contact details there — we do not see them. JooL Pay is a separate controller of the payment data (see its terms at joolpay.com). From JooL Pay we receive the amount and date of the donation and the donor’s name and e-mail address, as given by the donor, to thank you and to keep donation records (accounting requirements, Art. 6(1)(c)). We keep these records as long as the Accounting Law requires.
Visiting the site and statistics
Our hosting provider Vercel automatically receives technical data (IP address, page, time, browser type) — this is needed to deliver and protect the site. We also use Vercel Analytics — visitor statistics without cookies: a visitor is told apart only by a one-day hash, so nobody can follow you for longer or across other sites. Basis: legitimate interests (security and improvement of the site, Art. 6(1)(f)). Vercel keeps the logs and statistics for a short time.
Reviews and photos
The site shows publicly available reviews from Google Maps with their authors’ names; each one links to its source. Basis: legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)). If you want a review, or a photo in which you appear, removed, write to us — we will do it within 14 days.
3. Who we share data with
We do not sell data or use it for advertising. Bookings are kept by the database service Supabase (servers in Stockholm, EU), the site is run by Vercel (server functions in Stockholm, EU), payments are handled by JooL Pay (Latvia). Only shelter staff who need it for their work can see bookings.
Supabase Inc. and Vercel Inc. are US companies, so limited access to data (for example for technical maintenance) from the USA is possible. For this we rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and/or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses (GDPR Art. 46).
5. Your rights and complaints
You have the right to get a copy of your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict processing, to receive it in a portable format, to object at any time to processing based on legitimate interests, and to withdraw consent where processing relies on it (GDPR Arts. 15–21). We make no automated decisions. Write to remicentrs@gmail.com — we will answer within one month; to make sure the data is yours we may ask for your phone number and the date of your visit.
If you think the processing of your data breaks the law, you can complain to the Data State Inspectorate of Latvia: Elijas iela 17, Riga, LV-1050; pasts@dvi.gov.lv; +371 67223131; www.dvi.gov.lv. We encourage you to contact us first.
